As we were making our way home after a fantastic trip away, we were in the airport and ended up next to a guy pushing a huge trunk that just seemed to end up next to us in several spots. He was in the same elevator as us, using the same lines as us, etc. We just found ourselves next to him a couple of times. Kevin noticed that the guy pushing the trunk had a duffle bag with the "NHL" logo on it, but no particular team. After the third time being in the same area, Kevin said: "Can I guess what's in the trunk?" The guy replied; "Sure" Kevin said: "Is it the cup?" and I popped my head up... "Yup, you got it" said the guy. Turns out, he was the official "keeper of the cup", Philip Pritchard. I was so excited! He and Kevin talked a bit about the cup and he confirmed that players do indeed drink beer out of it, eat cereal and ice cream out of it and all kinds of other crazy activities with the 24 hours they get to spend with the cup after being a part of the winning team. When we finally went our separate ways, Kevin mentioned that he would have loved to ask him to open the trunk, but didn't want to slow him down or be rude. Then, as we were heading to our gate we noticed Phil (we can call him that now) at the gate waiting for someone to verify his ID with the trunk open. We saw our opportunity and rushed over quickly and asked him for a quick picture. He said "sure" and then went back to talking to the airline agent. Such a cool experience! One we won't soon forget!
