Whale Watching

We set up to go on a whale watching tour before we even left home, and I just couldn't wait for Trace to go out and see a real, live whale! He loves all sea creatures so much, I was so excited to see how he would react to the real live animals in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, all we had barely made it past the dock and I noticed Trace looking at the ground and looking pale. He was so excited, but it turns out he got really sea sick! He ended up throwing up about 4 times and was at the back of the boat most of the trip so that he could throw up and not get it inside the boat. On our way back, I ended up taking him inside the cabin of the boat and he fell asleep. I felt so bad for the little guy! It was heartbreaking! He was trying to watch as we were followed by a school of dolphins, but he could barely lift his head. Because of his sore tummy, Kevin and I took turns watching the whales and taking pictures. My thought was that at least we'd be able to show him pictures when we were back on dry land. We did get some really cool pictures, and next time we do something like that, we'll be getting some motion sickness medicine for Trace first!

Dolphin pod

This young whale was with his mom and breaching all over! Because of Trace, I was a little late to the party and had to climb up on a bench to get a picture, but we got one!

When we returned to the dock, Trace ran off the boat and was instantly feeling better! The color came back to his face, he started walking regularly, total 180 from his actions on the boat. As soon as we walked onto solid ground, we saw this huge sea lion and whenever Trace would bark at him, he would return the bark, it was so cute!
