One morning, I had taken part of the day off work in order to take Trace to get his 5 year old photos professionally taken. As is fairly common, when he woke, he came to snuggle with me and we started playing and wrestling around on my bed. We sometimes play a game where I put his green blanket over his head and he walks like a "zombie" and tries to find me and "attack". After playing a couple rounds of that game, I noticed the time on the clock and said "Whoa! We need to get ready, we're going to be late!" and I hopped out of bed. Trace was just behind me and it turned out he had put the blanket over his head and walked right off the bed! He fell off the bed and tried to catch himself but landed right on his wrist! I tried to reach out a catch him, but I was a bit too far away and his legs slipped right through my hands. Of course, he began to cry and I thought we were okay for a minute, but as the minutes passed, I started to worry all was not okay. So I called Kevin, told him that we were heading to the ER and I'd call him with the status. When we got there he was so brave! He looked so sad, I could hardly believe it! They took him back to get X-rays and the nurses came out saying he did so good! I was simply flabbergasted when they came back to announce that he had a fracture in both bones in his arm. Oh no! They had to just wrap it up in the ER and we made an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon for the next day.

| I couldn't get over how sad he looked at the ER. Poor fella! |

| At home, we wrapped it in plastic wrap so he could take a bath. |
When we got into the orthopedics office, he confirmed that both bones in his wrist had a compound fracture. The good news is that he said that with time, we won't even be able to tell that it was ever broken. Kevin took Trace in to get his cast and the doctor said Trace was the youngest kid he's ever had that chose the color black. ("So I can be like Vader Mommy!") Here's hoping this is the last major injury for this family for quite some time.
