New Years Eve

As is tradition, we had another Carrell New Years Eve party. As we discovered a year or two ago, it works great to simply re-set the clocks in the house two hours earlier and celebrate "East Coast New Year". It makes it so the guests that are not spending the night can make it home before those people who may have over-consumed at other parties get on the road. Also, the little ones do better going to bed closer to ten o'clock than midnight. We ate good food, dressed up in costumes and played several games. This year, Shaunasee and her family got a game for Christmas called "Pie in the Face". It is just like it sounds. You spin the spinner to determine how many times you turn the crank after putting your head inside the target. Then, randomly the plastic hand below that has a big pile of whipped cream on the top will fly up and splatter the whipped cream all over the players face. Sometimes you get away without your turn of the crank setting off the hand release, sometimes, not so lucky. I guess it depends on who you are if you are lucky or not, some of the kids were disappointed if their turns didn't result in a splat on the face.
