High Dive

We took Trace swimming for fun one warm, sunny afternoon and just as we were about to leave, Trace said he wanted to try jumping off the diving board. Since he's doing great in his swimming lessons, I thought it was an okay idea. As I toweled off and prepared to leave, I looked up to see Trace going up the ladder for the high dive, not the regular diving board. Agh! I told him to be really careful and he did it! No hesitation, nothing! What a brave boy!

Zoo Field Trip

When Kevin and I heard that Trace's kindergarten class was heading to the zoo on a Friday afternoon, I jumped at the chance to join them. I was able to get the day off and approval from the district to go and since Kevin volunteers every week anyway and has Friday off, he went too. We were assigned a group of three kids including Trace, a little boy named Ryker and a little girl named Bella. All three really well behaved and we had a great day together!

Must consult the map to ensure we don't miss anything!

Bella LOVED holding hands with Kevin. Me too Bella, me too.

They got to feel a real piece of elephant skin!

Along the way, we ran into other friends from Trace's class

This is Trace's closest friend, Matthew Palmer. He and Trace are good buddies and they both happen to be adopted.

A ride on the train is a must at the zoo!

We happened to be at the zoo the day after the brand new lion cubs were released outside. So cute!

All in all, a successful day at the Hogle Zoo!

A Day at the Races

Tamara took Trace out to the race track to see Adam race his new racing Porsche. Trace had a great time! He even found a nice black lab hanging out at the track and had a good time making friends with him. Tamara told me that when they got out of the race car, (which is very low to the ground) Trace groaned a bit and put his hand on his back. When Tamara asked if he was okay, he said; "yeah, that's just the sound my parents make when they get out of their car". Tamara thought that was hilarious. Me, not so much.

Love this pose!

This is Adam's race car. Thanks for taking Trace to check out the track today!

Fun Run

East Sandy Elementary had a fun run during school and I thought that Trace would act like I did in elementary school and just walk the route while talking to his friends. Instead, he dressed the part and actually ran the entire way! Kevin followed behind and took a couple of pictures to show Mom what a good effort Trace made. Maybe we have a track star in the making?

New Top Hat

Kevin and Trace went to the store with the goal of getting a new hat for the little one before an outdoor field trip. Dad showed him baseball cap after baseball cap, but Trace was insistent they get this one. Then I insisted he take a selfie with his new hat and he said; "gentleman's with this kind of hat don't smile Mom". He tried to look serious but it didn't work very good. Cute fella!

Shaving off his youth

Although it doesn't happen a lot, Kevin does occasionally shave his face and shows off those cheeks I like so much. When Trace saw him doing it one day, he asked when he'd be able to shave. Kevin said he had a few years to wait and should enjoy not having to, but Trace was still disappointed when Kevin showed him the blade in the razor and explained why he couldn't use it. Then, sometime later in the week when they went to the store for a regular grocery stop and they came across a "kids shaving kit" that included a razor made entirely of plastic. Kevin gave in and bought it and they tried it out that night. It was so cute! Trace was very careful and meticulous and what do ya know, when he was done, he was completely clean shaven! Such a cutie in so many ways.
