A little while ago, Julie and Scott decided to get their family a dog. They got her from a family that couldn't keep him anymore and they decided to name her "Nix". She is a lab mix, black fur and about a year old. We had Raven with us one day when we were headed over to their house and they decided to let us introduce the two. When we got there, we discovered that Nix had a red collar which is the same color as Raven. They took to each other immediately and LOVED running around Julie and Scott's huge backyard. As they ran around, even the families of the respective dogs, couldn't tell who was who! They look so much alike! Raven was usually chasing the slightly-faster-slightly-thinner Nix and if Raven ever stops for a minute, Nix would come over and nip at her front paws and Raven would take off chasing her again. So nice to see them being the best of friends! Since then, we've had them together a few more times and they always have a great time!

"Excuse me, ther's a shark in my soup"
When Trace and I were running errands one day, we decided to stop in and grab one of those fancy soda drinks. Trace chose a cotton candy-Sprite drink, complete with gummy sharks in the top! I had a "dirty" Pepsi which is basically just a Pepsi with coconut syrup in it. Nice to have a little refreshing break on a hot day.

Fun Run
Every year, East Sandy Elementary has something called the "Fun Run" for the kids to participate in. They have the Kindergarten kids run a 1/2 mile and the older kids can choose to run up to 2 miles if they like. They all start at the same time and run through the neighborhood and even have drink and rest stops along the route. The teachers, principal and lots of volunteers also participate in the race with the kids. The police even escort them at the beginning at the race! I happened to have the day off in order to take care of Kevin and so we took some chairs out to cheer on the participants. We recognized many of Trace's school friends and other members of our ward. Pretty soon, I started to wonder where my son was. Sure enough, at the very end of the last group, along comes my son with about 3 girls, just wandering down the street like they got nowhere else to be in the world. I asked Trace; "Why are you going so slow? Aren't you supposed to run?" He said; "I guess" and decided to lightly jog, for my benefit, I'm sure. I tried to ask him when he got home why he didn't run the whole way and try to come in first in his grade but he just shrugged and said; "I'm okay, I don't need to win". *Sigh* My silly little fella, he makes me laugh.

Little Liam
Rob and Ivanna's little boy Liam had his three year old birthday celebration. We were there when he got a new helmet (he wouldn't take it off) and a bunch of fun new toys. When it came time to blow out his birthday candles, he put both arms up to right angles and leaned in, only to blow just above the candles and not succeed in blowing any out. He didn't get discouraged, he just pulled back and tried again. Finally, Ivanna came to his rescue and pushed his helmet so that his breath was at the correct angle to blow out the candles. Still a pretty cute little fella.

Natural History Museum
Kevin was lucky enough to play chaperone for one of Trace's 2nd grade field trips. They went to the Utah Natural History Museum. There were four friends in Trace's group; Trace, Matthew, Sammy and Miranda. They had a great time together and I was thrilled to see the pictures and videos Kevin came back with.
