3rd grader in the house!

Every year since Trace started school, including Kindergarten, he has started school on his birthday. This was the first year that the school year DID NOT begin on the day he turned a year older. Yay! I'm not sure he cared, but I was thrilled that I didn't have to cram in birthday excitement with first day of school excitement. To me, they need to be two separate days, my emotions can't take it!
Anyway, this year, it was fun to get all the "Mom texts" during the preceding week asking what class our kids have for this year and find out who was in what teacher's class. This year the word on the street was that everyone wanted "Ms. Stroud". I had actually noticed her before. She used to teach the 4th graders and she would come out every morning and recite a military-type chant with the kids about the things they'd do in school and their love of all things East Sandy. (I tried to pick up all the words, but couldn't ever do it) So when I found out that Trace was to be in her class this year, I was pretty hopeful for a good year. Turns out that he wasn't going to be in class with his best friend from up the street, Wesley, but his long-time buddy Matthew and a couple of kids from the ward (Burton and Talan) were going to be in with him.
He wasn't nervous about starting another year in the slightest. He was just excited to see his friends and see what 3rd grade would hold for him.
