Boston and Baseball

For as long as I can remember, Boston and his brother have been playing baseball. I guess for a while, Boston has been telling his Mom that he wanted to play on the same team as Trace. Finally, the time arrived! They started the season and we discovered that Boston was going to be the star of the team and poor Trace would need some serious coaching on how to play the game. The best part for me was when we went to Cam and Boston's house toward the beginning of the season and Cam pitched to Boston and Trace and gave them tips on how to hit and catch. Cam is such a super star and Boston is following right behind him! We realized that Trace needed a bit more guidance in the sports arena during his first game. He started out great when he hit the ball and ran for all he could to first base, then, his teammate hit the ball so he ran to second, then third. When he was on third base, Boston was at bat. I was close enough to Trace to yell to him; "Trace! When Boston hits the ball, run as fast as you can home!" Sure enough, Boston hit the ball high and far, Trace took off like a rocket straight to the dugout and skidded onto the bench and removed his batting helmet and set it on the bench next to him. His coach, parents and teammates were all yelling; "No! Trace run to home, run to home!" I was laughing so hard I didn't think to grab my phone and record it for posterity. Turns out, the ball that Boston hit was a foul ball, so the coach got Trace to return to 3rd base and we got to try again. I was laughing, but this time Kevin told Trace to "run home" when Boston hit the ball. Trace nodded, got a really serious look on this face, and when the ball was hit again, he tore off again.....straight for the dugout. Now, the entire group of spectators, the coach, the teammates and opposing team were all laughing. I was laughing so hard I was crying! Finally, the coach went over to the bench and grabbed Trace's hand and walked him over to home plate and showed him how to tag in for a score. I felt so bad and was worried that Trace would be upset about the mix up, but he just shrugged it off, he was just sitting on the bench looking around like; "Okay, now what?" Now, I'm so mad I didn't video tape it, we could have won $100,000 from America's Funniest Home Videos! Anyway, the rest of the season, he got it figured out and hit lots of balls and scored lots of points.
