Halloween

One thing I love that East Sandy does for Halloween is invites the parents to come to the school and the kids have a parade on the track out on the playground. Trace's class is towards the front because they start with the little kids first, so I was really proud of myself for making it there on time and even had the camera ready to go. Trace's friends had some great costumes and since they cannot wear masks or helmets, Trace's costume fit in perfectly! In some of the pictures he was trying not to smile because "Captain Hook is a bad guy and bad guys don't smile." If you say so son, if you say so.

Back inside, the kids played games, decorated cookies and made art projects, so fun!

The Saturday before Halloween, Scott and Julie invited us to their ward for their annual trunk-or-treat event. They had a contest to see who had the best decorated truck and Julie won! She had a baseball themed decorated trunk and gave out candy that was baseball themed. Trace also decided to wear his astronaut costume since he had already worn his Captain Hook costume the day before at school. The part of the party that I loved was that in the gym, they set up a bunch of cardboard boxes and had the kids crawl through them as a "haunted house". They put in glowing ghost stickers, strobe lights, and spooky sounds all to make the pitch black darkness of the maze of boxes taped together a really spooky experience. Trace and his cousins went through it over and over as fast as they could. Such a fun idea!

Usually we hang out with Scott, Julie and their kids on Halloween night, but this year Scott's family and Shaunasee's family decided to skip Halloween altogether and just head up to Park City to play. So we decided to get together with Lindsay and her kids and go trick-or-treating around her in-laws house. We met first for chili and scones and then headed out to collect the goods. Becca was a "Paw Patrol" character, Braden was a ninja, Jimmy a zombie and of course our little guy was Captain Hook again. Of course, this time Daddy and I got to participate. Kevin shaved and dyed his beard, got glasses and a hat and became a pretty good looking Smee, Raven became a good tick-tock-croc, and because I refused to wear a Tinkerbell costume, I was just a wayward pirate on leave from the Jolly Roger.

Northwest Halloween Open House

Since we are allowed by the insurance department to have an open house each year, we decided that our office would have a Halloween-themed one this year. We went all out! We took pictures of each of us as employees and distorted them so that we looked like zombies, framed them and put them on the wall. We had soup in cauldrons, punch with dry ice, donuts with vampire teeth in them, all kinds of scary stuff! We had pumpkins with cool carvings, including one with our company logo! I created a slide show set to scary music that played on the big screen and through the speakers, we had tons of spiderwebs, witches and other creepy decor. We also turned one alcove of our office into a haunted mansion photo booth. We took photos of our clients, attendees and ourselves. We all dressed up in costumes and I loved what everyone came up with! Casey was a "social butterfly", Mcinsy was an 80's girl, Claire was a witch, Diane was "Raggedy Di-Ann", Tattianna was Waldo, Darla was a cowgirl, Megan was a crazy cat lady, Mike was a cowboy, Jeff was a masked man with a machete, Angie was a pink lady, Andy was a member of the paparazzi, (he took most of the photos), Liz was an inflatable dinosaur (she couldn't wear the costume the whole time, so she brought tiny hands) and I was the Queen of Hearts. Such a hodgepodge of costumes, but it was awesome and gave everyone something fun to talk about. We had such a great time and we think our clients did too, we plan to do the same thing again year after year. Hooray for Halloween!
