As a last attempt at celebrating summer the James' family and we decided to make a trip out to Vernal, Utah to see Dinosaur land and the interesting artifacts that are contained there. We decided to stay in the local KOA with our trailer and the James' brought their tent. Since we seem to always make a habit of camping when it is 1000 degrees or 300 below, we all spent a lot of time freezing in the evening and early morning, but the days were quite pleasant and sunny. Since the hills are pretty intense on the way there, Kevin's parents were nice enough to let us borrow their Dodge Ram truck for the journey so our Jeep wouldn't have trouble pulling the trailer.

We decided to head to the nearest lake and try our hand at a little fishing. The fish were not biting, so Trace got bored and started throwing rocks in the lake. (Much to the fishing party's dismay, nothing like chasing away all the fish) The rocks started getting bigger and bigger and pretty soon, he was throwing in small boulders about the size of a basketball. Then, as he was hefting one of these said boulders into the lake, he lost his footing and didn't let go of the rock. He went right into the water clothes and all. The rock pulled him down and the water was fridged cold. Kevin saw this happen, dropped his fishing pole and raced over to help. Right when he got there, Trace popped up and swam to the side using the freestyle swimming stroke he'd learned in swim class. He was scared, cold and talked about how he hit his chest on the bottom of the lake. We took him back to the truck and got him dressed in warm, dry clothes and gathered up the rest of the stuff and headed back. Talk about a scared Mommy! I was so worried that he'd have some kind of concussion or permanent injury, but as time went on he seemed okay. I had never been so thankful for those swimming lessons and the quick thinking of my small, little boy. I know he had an angel looking out for him that day and I'll forever be grateful for the protection he received. His main remark afterwards was that; "Mom, it's hard to swim with your shoes and clothes on, they're heavy!"

As we were getting ready to leave, the kids wanted to try out the playground just one last time. They were excited to go home, but still ready for one last play time.
