Zoo Day
Since it was a rare time that Kevin had a Saturday off, we decided to head to the local Hogle Zoo to check out the sights. We saw an eagle up close, the sea lions being fed and the two rhinos being fed. Trace and I were laughing because there was one girl and one boy rhino and the girl was really messy! The male rhino was very neat, kept all the food in his mouth and didn't drool hardly at all. The female rhino was drooling and spilling food everywhere! So Trace and I were excited to find out that indeed "boys rule and girls drool".

Utah Grizzly's
As I was driving to work one day, I heard a commercial on the radio about our local hockey team and some of their upcoming games. It made me realize that Kevin and I hadn't been to a hockey game in years and Trace had never been. So, on a whim, we decided to get tickets for that weekends game. When we arrived, we saw that we had seats right behind the announcer and the penalty boxes! Really great seats! I wasn't sure how Trace would like it, but he was really into it! During the first period, he was cheering and asking Kevin and I what certain things meant and yelling for the players to "hustle up" and "go get it"! It was really cute. Then, I helped distract him from the game with ice cream, pizza, popcorn and treats of all kinds. During one of the intermissions, the employee that sits in the penalty box grabbed a stray puck and tossed it over the glass to Trace! So cool! He was so excited! Then, just as the game was ending, another employee that was score keeping grabbed another puck and tossed it over the glass to Trace again! I just considered it was proof that Trace has inherited his Daddy's luck, what kid goes to a hockey game and ends up with TWO pucks! I don't even remember whether we won or lost, but we had a great time and a lot of fun getting out as a family.

Easter Day
This Easter Trace got to look around the house and see if he could find the hidden Easter eggs. Some had candy in them, some had his favorite kind of nuts (cashews) and some even had MONEY in them! He really liked finding those! I think we found them all, but we may encounter some later on in the year, which is the reason we don't like to hide real hard-boiled or raw decorated eggs. He also got a movie and a Lego to build in his Easter basket this year.
Trace got a new outfit for Easter Sunday, pretty easy to make this little guy handsome!
Later on that evening, Liam came over and Trace helped him begin to learn the fine art of Lego building. Happy Easter!

Skates
Trace has a new favorite mode of transportation; skates. He's gotten so good on them that he wears them to clean, cook, watch TV, just about everything. Good thing he's got nice parents that let him wear his skates in the house. Haha!

Natural History Museum
I had planned to take the day off work so that we could go to the zoo as a family, but it turned out to be a really rainy and cold day, so we decided to check out the Natural History Museum near the University of Utah. I hadn't been there in a long time and I know that Trace would like the dinosaur exhibits that they had on display. Turns out, there was all kinds of things to learn about and check out, we had a great time!
| This was an exhibit that you could use to show the water patterns and how they erode away the earth. You could build up the sand and then turn on the water and watch it wash away. |
| We had to check out the creepy, crawly exhibits as well! |
