The lead up to our trip was so exciting! Everything we planned or prepared for he would ask if it was for our trip to Alabama, no matter what it was, Trace was so excited! In the weeks before we left, I created a paper chain of things that represent Alabama and each day he would remove one so he knew how many days until we would leave. He currently doesn't understand the concept of time, so it was a good way to help him picture the wait time. When the day finally arrived, he was such a good boy! He was great on the planes, he was patient with weird eating schedules and listened to his parents. I was very proud of him! We flew to Atlanta, Georgia first and then hopped a small plane over to Huntsville. By the time we got in our rental car at the Huntsville airport, the poor kid fell right to sleep. I don't even think we made it onto the freeway.....

This is the chain that we created for the count down until Alabama!

Chillin' on the plane

This was taken about 30 seconds after we got in the rental car.

Trace asked Nanny to read him the "Cuddle" book before he left for bed at the hotel.

These two adopted kids are 82 years apart, but still able to share a nice story together.

We went out to dinner one night and Trace wanted to hold Granddad's hand so "he doesn't fall". He's such an observant fellow, he just noticed we'd been helping Granddad get around, we didn't ask him to do it.
